WILL ROGERS
REGENERATIVE
FARM
GROW/WILD stewards and programs the Will Rogers Regenerative Farm, for students to immerse themselves in nature, learn how to grow food, and care for the land.
Located at a Title I elementary school in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, the project serves as proof of concept for what is possible when land stewardship, regenerative farming, inquiry-based learning, and community engagement come together. Much like a library or STEM lab, the regenerative farm is integrated into daily school life, giving students a living space where they can learn from nature.
Learning at the Regenerative Farm
Students experience nature directly while developing critical and creative thinking through hands-on learning.
Our approach:
— Weaving together land stewardship, climate literacy, food growing, regenerative practices, and habitat restoration.
— Integration of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Crosscutting Concepts and Practice Standards.
— Celebration of the cultural diversity of food and farming practices.
— Building collaboration, shared responsibility, and care for the land.

Through this work, GROW/WILD is developing an approach that can inform future school sites and urban spaces currently under programmed or no longer serving their full potential.
